Welcome!

I have created this blog for students who are out there living on their own, away from those home-cooked ready to eat meals! I, being a student, have been on my own cooking for myself for over 3 years now. Apart from the odd trip back home, or the many "care packages" I have been cooking my own meals, no meal plan, just my local grocery store. I have developed a number of recipes and have been handed down many others that have got me through the years, and they have even been quite healthy if I do say so myself.

The Crock Pot

Since I have moved away, the crock pot has become my best friend. Nothing like throwing something together before class and coming home to a fresh home cooked meal. From chili to chicken and everything in between pretty much anything can be left to cook in the slow cooker. My favourite would be chili, however the easiest by far is honey garlic pork chops!

To make this you will need: (makes 2 servings)

1 container of VH honey garlic sauce (picture below)
2 Pork chops

Spices of your choice for seasoning (I use oregano, garlic, salt and pepper)

This recipe is plain and simple. Place defrosted pork chops in slow cooker on low heat. Add jar of honey garlic sauce, spices and let sit for 8-10 hours, or 6-8 hours on high heat.

This dish is excellent with some rice, and broccoli or some mixed vegetables. My favourite is the Thai mixed veggies!

More crock pot recipes to come!

Total cost for this recipe: $11.00 ($5.50/serving) (Pork chops ($8), VH Sauce ($3))
