Welcome!

I have created this blog for students who are out there living on their own, away from those home-cooked ready to eat meals! I, being a student, have been on my own cooking for myself for over 3 years now. Apart from the odd trip back home, or the many "care packages" I have been cooking my own meals, no meal plan, just my local grocery store. I have developed a number of recipes and have been handed down many others that have got me through the years, and they have even been quite healthy if I do say so myself.

Simple (yet delicious) Pita Pizza

So I know and I could only imagine what the typical student fridge looks like. I took the liberty of taking a picture of mine to share with you.

You can see…there isn’t much, lots of sauces, not so much food. I want to help those students that may not have much money and are cooking on a budget, and also for those living in a residence with a small kitchen and little resources.

Since this blog is about food and I am yet to post a recipe, I will post my first one right now. This simple recipe can be made in a toaster oven or traditional oven, barbeque, or even (not recommended) the microwave. Todays menu item: pita pizzas. Yes just as it sounds, we will make pizza on a pita.

You will need:

1 Package of pitas
I small can of tomato sauce
2 cups - Mozzarella cheese

Peperoni, mushroom, bacon bits, peppers etc. You can get crafty here and choose what you would like to put on top.

Preheat oven, toaster oven or barbeque 375 degrees.

Prepare your pitas and spread your pizza sauce to cover the entire pita. Then, sprinkle your cheese thoroughly to cover. Add any toppings to your pizza that you would like.

Place pizzas in the oven for about 10-15 minutes enough to melt the cheese on top.

Et voila, simple and crafty 15 min pizza.

Prep time: 5 min
Time to cook: 15 min
Overall price: $8.00 (can even be made the following week, just seal the sauce and your good!)

Pitas ($4), Cheese ($3), Pizza sauce ($1)
